Being optimistic is essential for personal growth.

Nothing can save you from a lack of it.

It is an outlook on life that will result in failure and misery.

Those that voluntarily bear this perspective, accept the consequences of it.

And the consequences are not pretty.

Pessimism can infect all facets of your life.

Relationships, health, business etc.

It will eventually seep into your successes.

And your successes will turn to failures.

They will take on the form of your attitude.

There is very little you can do to stop it when you are in a negative mindset.

You can’t outwork it.

That’s because it follows you everywhere.

Optimism

Are you a glass half full or glass half  empty person?”

An age old expression.

That’s for a good reason though.

It has stood the test of time.

This is because it explains one essential ingredient to success.

Optimism; the glass is always half-full.

Never be the glass half-empty person.

No one likes that person.

And I guarantee that you don’t like them either.

You should never give up hope.

Even when the enemies are at the gates and you are surrounded.

Even when the odds are stacked against you.

That is still no cause for giving up.

In fact, when your back is against the wall is exactly the time when you need to be optimistic.

If you are not optimistic in yourself then who will be?

Maybe your mother and your partner.

That’s about it.

If you are always looking at situations in a negative light then you are doomed.

Doomed to a life of unfulfilled potential.

A lack of optimism shows a clear lack of gratitude.

People have had it much tougher than you .

They still managed to make the most of what they had.

We live in the most peaceful and prosperous time that anyone has ever lived in.

It’s by no means perfect but you need to have perspective.

The average life expectancy in the Roman Empire was 35 years.

Refusing to acknowledge and appreciate what you have to be thankful for will not end well.

Optimism isn’t delusion

Being optimistic doesn’t mean you should be deluded.

However, you may seem deluded to people who just don’t get it.

It’s not a magic pill.

It is a necessary component of winning, however.

There is still a need to be grounded in reality.

But I imagine that those who  achieve colossal feats of success have little cause for what most view as’ reality’.

If someone says they can’t do something?

They prove them wrong and smile while doing it.

The reality is that most people have a limited idea of what is possible.

They have no idea just what heights they can reach.

 

Set yourself small limits and you will sell yourself short.

I understand that life can knock you back, like with the loss of loved one for example.

It’s extremely hard.

If nothing of this magnitude has happened then why are you being pessimistic?

How can I be more optimistic?

You need to believe in yourself and what you represent.

If you have trust in yourself and what you bring to the table then you have no reason to be negative.

If you don’t at the moment then then that’s OK.

You will soon.

It just means at present you have a whole lot to work on.

Even if you have to start from nothing, you can still be in a drastically better position a year from now.

That’s because most people aren’t willing to put in the work.

But if you are not one of those people, then you will go far.

Focus on daily self-improvement and improving the lives of others.

You may not see the reasons to be optimistic but believe me and everyone else who says it; there is.

Those that continue to be negative after reading this have only themselves to blame.

The world can be as incredible as you make it.

You have the power to make it that way.

One of the staples of a great physique now-a-days is having a pair of 3D delts.

Now while it is difficult getting a pair as a natural lifter, it’s not impossible.

Delts have some of the highest amount of androgen receptors in the body.

As a result, they respond well to steroids.

This is what can create that crazy boulder-shoulder look when using gear.

If like me, you are a natural lifter who wants some 3D delts, then look no further.

You have come to the right place.

How Your Shoulder Workouts Can Build 3D Delts

3D delts can dramatically change how your physique looks.

Having broad and thick delts will increase your shoulder-to-waist ratio.

This will give the impression that you are much bigger than you actually are.

Of course, we all want to get big plain and simple.

But increasing your shoulder-to-waist ratio is a great way to get there.

A wide frame is noticeable within a split second.

It creates a dominating presence which is always good.

You can now turn your focus to these guys.

So you want to get them big round 3D delts?

There are a number of things you need to start including in your shoulder workouts.

1 Side lateral raises

Along with all your compound movements, including side lateral raises will help bring up your side delts.

This will create that crazy shoulder-to-waist ratio.

2  Face pulls and the rear delt fly

“That much isolation for the rear delts?”

This is a difficult muscle to target with standard exercises.

If you really want to get that 3D look, then you need to start giving your rear delts the attention they deserve.

You need to treat them how you treat your biceps.

That means you need to hit your side and rear delts 2-3x a week for 2-4 sets of 8-12 reps.

Try and get stronger over time.

You don’t have to be increasing the weight every shoulder workout.

Even if you’re increasing the number of reps you can do, you’re still getting stronger.

3 Get STRONG as hell on all the big lifts!

No magic tricks.

If you build incredible strength on the big compound lifts then there is no way you will have small shoulders.

For example, lets say you can do multiples reps of bench press and  barbell rows at 1.5x body weight and multiple reps OHP body weight.

You will have big shoulders, period.

You’re delts will have no choice but to grow.

Keeping all other things the same; a bigger muscle is a stronger muscle.

Make sure you’re including side laterals and direct rear delt work on top of this to improve your shoulder workouts.

This will ensure you’re rear and side delts catch up to your front.

Building 3D delts takes a long time

No one likes to hear this.

3D delts don’t happen overnight.

Building muscle takes longer than you may think.

It may take a couple of months before you notice a difference.

If you’re a beginner you will notice change quicker, lucky you!

World class delts take 5 years of continual TLC to build.

You need to be patient and enjoy the process.

Why Consistency Will Win and How You Can Use It To Achieve Success

Consistency will win out over all who stand before it.

Being relentlessly consistent in the pursuit of a goal is the best way to get there.

It’s tried and tested.

When you invest a large amount of effort over a long period of time is when the magic happens.

It’s not going to happen overnight.

“Overnight success stories,” by in large are a LIE.

Some people will think that is what happened though.

But you know it’s not

They didn’t see the consistency you put into over the years.

What they saw was only the final product.

This is when you have honed you’re craft so well that you become noticed to a large audience.

As the great Aristotle once said “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

And it’s true even to this day.

In fact as technology and quick-fixes become increasingly sought after it is more relevant than ever.

Consistency can’t be beaten in the long run.

You may not be particularly skillful to begin with.

But give it enough time and you will be.

The different types of people when it comes to achieving desires

  1. There are those who will never start.

A mere pipe dream for those in this category. A ‘what if’ that will never materialise. They will be telling their friends how they would have done something if only it wasn’t for X,Y and Z. Not realising that these are movable obstacles. Or maybe they do realise but they like to pretend they don’t

2)There are those who will begin chasing their dreams but then give up.

These people had the courage to try at least. For whatever reason they fell short of the mark. If they found another obsession then that’s great. But if they simply gave up without replacing it with anything else then that is a failure. Somewhere along the line they got discouraged. They didn’t have the self-belief to continue when the going got tough.

3) And there are those who will begin chasing and never stop.

These are the people who will come out on top when the dust settles. If you want it bad enough you will get there eventually. Whether it takes you 5, 10 or 20 years. It will all be worth it when you get to where you want to be. Consistency will win out over all else.

So many people want success but as they find out that it will take them much longer than expected they change their minds.

It immediately cuts out a vast proportion of the population.

‘Seeing the bigger picture’ is vital.

Unsuccessful people only think in the short term.

They don’t have enough insight to envisage where they want to be someday.

If you do, you will understand the importance of consistency.

People may think you’re crazy because they don’t understand the mindset of a winner.

When you invest so much time and energy into something, there is no room for anything other than progress.

You leave yourself no other option but to win.

That’s why consistency will win and how it is such a great strategy.

All other competition will fall by the way side.

Continuing to learn and improve your trade, day after day is how you get there.

When you are obsessed about something, it becomes so much easier to do it every day.

Quitting simply isn’t an option.

When you are the move, great opportunities will come upon you.

They do not happen when you stop.

Don’t give up and people will be forced to pay attention to you.

Give them a reason to.

Consistency will win and so can you.

Getting things done can be a struggle when you don’t know what to do.

Do you ever feel overburdened with the amount of tasks you have to do sometimes?

It’s that feeling when you have got so many things to get done.

And you just don’t know where to begin.

This can be problem for many.

It was for me.

We tend to spend so much time deciding on what we should be doing.

This leads to over analysing situations from every angle.

We assume this will help us to decide which is the best route to go down.

“Well if I do A first then B will work out better but C, not so much”

“If i do C first then A will work out better but B, not so much”

Ultimately getting things done becomes impossible.

Sound familiar?

I used to be guilty of this habit.

I would spend so much time deciding on the ‘right’ thing to do.

Don’t get me wrong, I still fall into this trap occasionally.

But I’m much better at getting things done now.

This is when we aren’t achieving anything

Stagnation sets in.

We don’t know what direction to go in.

Getting stuck in ‘limbo’ causes you to become much more unproductive.

It’s actually hurting your success.

Now, there are times when thinking things through long and hard is a good thing.

Deciding on marriage, buying or renting property.

Those kinds of decisions.

It’s not necessary a lot of the time though.

We tend to make it much harder than it needs to be.

There really isn’t a need to overthink these things when you know why you’re doing them.

I was woke up to this idea by Mike De Marco from the Freedomainradio podcast.

While walking home from the gym, I was listening to the podcast (as I always do).

Mike, the head of operations , was speaking to a caller.

They were talking about the caller’s ambitions.

The advice Mike had was (while paraphrasing) “What is your number one priority at the moment? Figure that out and work towards it everyday.”

Once I heard that it changed me.

You may be thinking “Isn’t that obvious?”

And you would be right.

But to hear it put so coherently in a conversation made it clear to me.

Now ask yourself that question.

It may take you some time.

But you should come up with something that brings you a great sense of motivation.

Once you know what your number one priority is, everything else becomes easier.

When you know this, you can work back from there.

Everything can be based off of that answer.

That doesn’t necessarily mean you have to work directly on it 24/7.

But you should always keep the bigger picture in the back of your mind.

Overworking yourself could actually do more damage than good.

You need to rest and unwind too.

This will allow you to refocus and let your mind process the information.

Doing this could be what you need to allow yourself to work towards your main priority.

It all depends on your current situation.

Just because you have your number one priority, doesn’t mean you can’t also dedicate your time to other things.

If you can handle more workload then go for it.

However, some work better when they focus their attention on a single task.

Whenever you ever find yourself losing momentum, just think back to what I asked you to think of before.

That’s what you should be dedicating most of your efforts to.

Use this to fight inaction.

You will no longer have to spend an hour deciding on what to do in the mornings.

Now you know what your number one priority is, the decision is easy.

When you stop sitting on the sidelines you can finally take action.

Work towards your number one priority every day.

See how far you come.

Getting things done just got a whole lot easier.

 

Why You Need To Avoid Fake Friends

There are certain people you will meet in life who will try to put you down and limit your potential.

You need to identify these people and avoid them like the plague.

Their mere presence will have disastrous effects upon you as they will try to subvert you from your true goals in life.

Fake Friends

There could be a number of reasons that they want to stop you from doing what you want to in life.

They could be jealous of what you can accomplish without them.

Some people who you call “friends,” won’t want you to succeed as this will make them feel worse about their own circumstances.

It will only reflect just how little they have accomplished in comparison.

People like this will try to drag you down to their level.

Inside, they wish they could be like you but they just don’t have the guts.

They secretly want you to fail.

So you can come back to the couch and continue watching football with them.

This will mean the two of you can feel comfortable together, in your own worthlessness.

Of course there are true friends who want you to get what you want in life.

They should be celebrated.

This post isn’t about them though.

This means you need people in your life who are completely comfortable with greatness.

True friends may not be where they want to be now.

But, they must know where they want to be in the future and how to get there.

It takes courage to know that you are on the right path.

Greatness can mean a lot of things to different people. It could be creating a successful family, business, or finally getting in shape.

It could be all three.

We only have so much energy to give each and every day.

The more you spend it on interacting with time wasters, the less energy that you get to spend on productive matters.

This will damage every facet of your life.

Having fake friends around you is like carrying a monkey on your back with a vice like grip.

Every day will be more difficult than it needs to be.

You’re suffering when you’re forced to interact with people who don’t respect you or the mission you are on.

I often hear people complain about their friends.

They’ll continually point the finger at them without ever once turning it on the person who is doing the pointing, themselves.

Who you choose to associate with is a direct reflection of yourself.

If you hang around with losers then more than likely, you yourself are a loser too.

It doesn’t mean you can’t become something greater in the future though.

That may begin with cutting out fake friends.

Stay loyal to your true friends

You shouldn’t leave a loyal friend out to dry when he is going through a rough patch.

You should be there for him when he needs it the most.

As a man you should try to lift him up like he would do to you.

But, when after the dust has settled, he continues to feel sorry for himself and refuses to get the help he needs?

At some point you need to move on.

If you are continually spending your time and efforts trying to help someone, there comes a point where you have to draw the line.

When you begin to suffer as a result, an ultimatum may have to be made.

Show him what is possible with some determination.

 

Not everyone you keep company with has to be an Olympic record holder.

Everyone has different ambitions in life.

This is absolutely fine.

 

But don’t complain about the people in your life and then continue to spend time with them.

You don’t need extra distractions.

If the friendship is one where you are always giving while the other person takes, then you need to get out.

Friendships should be balanced.

This means that both parties should be benefiting from the interactions.

Don’t wake up in 10 years and realise that you haven’t done anything.

Fake friends can do that to you, if you let them.

The chains may have to be taken off sooner rather than later.

How to Live Life Like a Grizzly Bear and Destroy Your Doubts

The Grizzly bear is an animal often overlooked by people who instead take inspiration from more exotic beasts.

There is no reason why though.

Maybe they  still can’t get the cute and cuddly teddy bear connotation out of their head.

Bears, Cubs, Wildlife, Animal, Mammal, Nature, Wild

Grizzly bears can take hibernation for 5-7 months of the year.

That’s a lot of down time, but it’s not just for any reason.

This  process is necessary for the Grizzly’s survival. If it were to ignore the inclement weather, the Grizzly would surely die.

It would never stay alive long enough to see the birth of Spring.

To become what it is destined to be, the Grizzly must go through this journey every year.

In preparation, this bear can gain up to 400lb to ensure it lives on through the Winter.

You too must go through a journey of sorts.

Unless you want to continue doing what everyone else is doing and keep talking the same shit to the same people.

You will keep wondering when life is going to change.

It isn’t going to change, unless you decide to commit to making it change.

What awaits for you on the other side is the summation of greatness.

The Grizzly steps up it’s hunting game because it knows that it must.

It dedicates more hours in search of food for it’s self because it knows that death is imminent otherwise.

The Grizzly must dig a den to stay in over hibernation.

All of this must be completed before Winter.

You too must step up your will to act or else you will sink.

 Every great idea that lies within you will sink as well.

To prevent emotion you must stop yourself from inaction.

To prevent inertia you must act and then keep at it because an object in motion will tend to stay in motion.

The longer you wait to act, the harder it will be to begin, but not impossible.

Unless there is some medical reason keeping you on the couch then you have no reason being there. 

You either act, or you face extinction, extinction from what you could of been.

The placard with your name engraved on it is never erected, your existence remains insignificant as you failed to give it any.

No one will ever see the greatness inside of you.

Somebody else took it from you because they wanted it more, they declared it theirs.

The Grizzly decides that it is worth it because nature takes no prisoners.

It doesn’t care if you had a rough day and that you “just aren’t feeling it”.

When you give yourself the option to lose that is when you are open for attack and ultimately to failure.

When you take a hibernation away from distractions it is an investment in the future that not everyone is prepared to make.

It takes discipline to sacrifice the pleasures of the present for something more worthwhile in the future.

The problem is what we currently have in front of us is tangible compared to our true desires which may seem out of reach to some.

Sacrifice then, must come with a self belief in your quest. 

A great amount of discipline is necessary to enable this.

You must practice self-mastery every day in order to build your den in life.

The Grizzly does not venture into his preparation without full commitment and neither should you.

As the potential victor, you must begin fighting back  before it is too late.

Killer instincts are a necessity for the Grizzly as it seeks to assert it’s dominance over the woodlands.

It must remain calm even when all is changing around him.

You too must do the same in the face of adversity. 

Become the Grizzly Bear you were always destined to be.

The Fat Loss Secret That Makes Dieting Easy

What is the best diet for fat loss?

Everyone has a favourite; Atkins, Paleo, low carb-high fat, high carb- low fat, intermittent fasting, IIFYM.

The list goes on and on…

‘Gurus’ will spout the magic of their sacred diet they swear by over all others.

One will preach eating one large meal a day and the other eating 6 small meals a day.

The problem is that they spout it for all the wrong reasons.

They preach about their ” secret fat burning foods” and ” window times for fat loss” with no evidence to back it up.

They claim that their manipulation of hormones like insulin are the reason behind their fat loss.

And they tell you all will be revealed if you would just purchase their meal plan!

I’m tired of this nonsense and the blatant misleading of people.

Their diet may be successful but these reasons are not the cause of it.

The reality is that all successful fat loss diets have one thing in common.

Are you ready?

The person must be in a calorie deficit for an extended period of time.

There I said it.

Yep, you heard me right.

It’s calories in vs calories out.

Not consuming no carbs after 6pm or anything else absurd.

If your mind is blown well then buckle up.

Being in a calorie deficit means that you have to consume less calories than you expend.

Simple right?

Whatever way you choose to get into such a deficit is up to you however.

Examining the Steak and Eggs Diet

Let’s take a look at the Steak and Eggs diet which is a form of a ketogenic  diet.

This is a diet extremely low in carbs and high in protein and fat.

That’s not why its effective though.

The primary reason why it works is because it limits your food choices dramatically. 

Eating becomes a whole lot less attractive when you can no longer eat cereal, ice cream and french fries.

The effect will be to stunt your appetite if you can maintain it.

The fact that you’re only allowed to eat two meals during the day has a great effect on controlling eating habits too.

How many calories can you eat when you restrict yourself to two sittings compared to three or four?

No where near as much.

The effect of limiting your meals and food choice greatly outweighs any other factor like a small maybe a small change in metabolic effect.

If you’re losing weight on this diet that’s great though!

Don’t stop.

I can guarantee however, if you count up all the calories you’re eating it will be less than what you were eating before you began.

It’s not because the combination of steak and eggs is somehow ‘magic’.

Do you need to do extra exercise?

The short answer is no!

You don’t need to go on a 10 mile run every day if that’s what you’re thinking.

So don’t worry.

Consuming less calories is much more efficient than exercise for weight loss.

You can go for an extra hour walk or you can not eat that chocolate bar.

Although you should still be exercising and lifting weights for health and well being.

Ever heard of the rule 80% diet 20% exercise for weightloss?

Abs were made in the kitchen not in the gym.

That doesn’t mean you need to limit yourself to chicken, broccoli and rice however.

It’s all good having an ultra strict healthy diet but if you can’t adhere to it then it’s no good.

You need to find a diet that allows you to be in a calorie deficit in a way that works for you.

This means that you need to find a diet you can maintain consistency with.

People can get lean off eating junk food every day.

If you don’t believe me just read about the man who lost 56 pounds on the Mcdonald’s diet!

I would not advise this as you will destroy your health in the process and you will be constantly hungry.

But it serves as a good example that calorie deficit is king for fat loss.

Those vitamins and minerals are important too bro.

The best diet for fat loss is the one that you can adhere to that allows you to be in a calorie deficit.

It’s about what foods makes you feel fuller for longer.

And what foods you feel give you the most long lasting energy.

Whatever that may be, you need to find out.

How To Prevent The Regrets Of Death By Living

Here is a little bit of knowledge for you about death.

You’re going to die.

Yes you are, we all are one day.

It may be many years from now but your time is ticking.  This may come as a shock to you considering the lifestyle that many lead.

Every day you choose to waste is another day you’re never going to get back.

Every day that hooded figure of death with scythe in hand creeps closer and closer to you.

Now that you know that your time here on this plane of existence is limited what are you going to do about it?

Once you appreciate that you are going to die it is a truly liberating experience.  The remaining apathy that I had left inside of me vanished. What seemed like valid excuses to me before, now seemed laughable. Death is inevitable but what you do until then is entirely up to you.

You can choose to live a sheltered life and pretend like everything is fine. But that call is coming some day, that is a guarantee.

The live fast die young-YOLO lifestyle glamorised by Hollywood and friends is self destructive crap. A life full of partying, drugs, sleeping in, a crappy diet and no self knowledge will lead to an unfulfilled life with no substance.

And what a waste that would be. . The chances of you being born were 400 trillion to one. That means that you should be grateful for every extra day that you get to spend living. We’ve seen generations of kids lives thrown to the kerb by telling them that nothing matters except their immediate gratification. This kind of relativism is an extremely dangerous drug to the right person.

How To Prevent The Regrets Of Death By Living

Go To A Retirement Home

Go to a retirement home, talk to a man and ask him about his regrets in life. Really listen to him and understand the reasoning behind it. You will begin to see that it is here that he has come to some of these realisations. It is here where he has come to rest and contemplate his life. When you see that regret in a mans eyes you will know it. He is close to deaths door and there is nothing he can do about it.

The most difficult aspect is that he can’t do anything about it. He can’t wake up tomorrow and try again to chase his dreams and build something bigger than himself. He must live with his decisions, and that in itself is a part of life. You should be leaving that retirement home with fire in your eyes.

He can’t tell that person how he really felt. He can’t start up that business with the idea he always thought about. He can’t move to that location he always talked about. This man can’t do these things because the opportunities have passed him by. They are gone.

But you are not in this situation yet. You still have a finite amount of time to change your atmospheric course so that you don’t crash land, but gracefully carry on towards the stars. You still still have time to change your course of history. How do you want to be remembered?

Don’t Get Hung Up On the Past

Whatever has happened has happened, you cannot change it. You should certainly learn from your past errors so that you don’t make the same mistake again. But living life constantly thinking about your previous decisions will be at the detriment of your current and future self.

Living life in the past will undoubtedly lead to regrets on your death bed. Learn to accept the past and appreciate the freedom to start anew.

This Is Your Battle

Whatever your current situation is it can improve. It will take the will of yourself and yourself alone to change it. Realise this – no one is coming to save you. This is your battle and  ultimately the sword must be taken up by you and you alone.

Begin by building your human capital and wealth. Not just in monetary terms but in life experiences and skills too. Take a calculated chance on something to build your confidence and courage up. The mere concept of putting in effort without immediate gratification turns off 99% of people out there. Everyone wants to see immediate results in the bank account, mirror or with their relationships. You need to be willing to delay gratification for a long time, like a brown bear who is stockpiling food for hibernation in the winter.

5 minute ab routine and curl routines won’t cut it. They only  serve to make you comfortable with the little amount of effort you’re willing to put in.

If you have never been exposed to hard work before I can imagine how alien it may be. Our generation has been spoon fed and suffer from lack of male role models growing up. But if you choose to go back to you’re usual destructive habits after reading this then you are a part of the problem. You need to assume responsibility for your life choices.

The power of hard work cannot be underestimated. Many of the times it is the person who has worked at it for longer and with more intensity that will win out. Intelligence and natural ability are massive factors in life but sometimes rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in is what’s needed. Hard work doesn’t mean slaving away doing something unproductive. It means working continuously until you find success, what many people are unwilling to do.

There are only 24 hours in a day, which everyone should know by now. With your average 8 hours of sleep most people need to perform at their best, you’re left with 16 hours. Along with eating, drinking and other tasks (Shit Shower Shave etc) you have approximately  14 hours.

How you spend these hours will dictate the path your life takes.

Are you willing to spend an hour exercising to improve your physical strength and fitness?

Will you read for an hour to improve your minds intellectual capacity?

Will you make proactive steps towards your aspirations?

These are questions that you should already know the answer to if you’re reading this.

The average American watches 4.3 hours of TV a day, sickening. The vast majority of which will be spent watching the news or keeping up with some D-list celebrity.

While you continue to watch someones reality TV show your own life is crumbling around you.

The Essentials

You  should aim to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. This will give structure to your day and ensure you have the best chance of being refreshed.

There needs to be a complete separation of work and play.

This means that you don’t pretend to do work while scrolling Facebook. This destructive habit will lead to endless hours of desk time with zero accomplishment.

Stop watching Netflix every night might also be a good start too.
